Most of us will work in windows operating system and you wanna try some open source operating system such as linux. But you may have a question how to dual boot your system with both windows and linux. 

If you using windows and still you loves to use linux or wanna try linux operating system its a simple task if you choose ubuntu as your open source operating system. It works well with the windows. If you have ubuntu OS file you can find windows installer in it or you can download it from their official site for free. Click on windows installer file it will allow you to choose a option from three, choose ubuntu on windows option its just like software installation process in windows. 

It will promote you to restart your system and it will complete the installation process. Restart your system to to choose the operating system you wanna boot. Removing the ubuntu is also a simple process no need to format your system to remove the open source. You can uninstall it from programs and features option in your windows control panel. * Press esc or F2 or F9 or F5 (It may depend on the laptop you use )
* Select BIOS Settings
* Select Boot Order 
* Select HDD if other option is selected such as DVD drive
* Then save and restart
